We offer a number of training events to trainee doctors and psychiatrists:


East Midlands and East of England Psychiatry Summer School for undergraduate medical students and foundation year doctors

In collaboration with Health Education East Midlands and Health Education East of England and the Royal College of Psychiatrists, St Andrew’s hosts the East Midlands and East of England Psychiatry Summer School on an annual basis.

The aim is to encourage the best medical students and foundation year doctors to choose psychiatry as a career by informing choice and dispelling misconceptions about psychiatry.


CASC Training

To prepare prospective trainees for the MRCPsych CASC Exam St Andrew’s holds regular training courses; candidates will receive intensive practice when visiting exam style stations with professional role players and experienced examiners who will provide constructive feedback.

Candidates have the opportunity to observe and be examined, receiving oral or written feedback.


Consultant Psychiatrist Interview Skills

This course is aimed at higher trainees in psychiatry nearing the end of their clinical training and preparing for the next step in their career progression to Consultant.

Obtaining a consultant job is the crucial priority at the end of psychiatric training. Making the right choices and preparing properly for consultant interviews is vital.

Preparing for interviews can be a stressful process and one that trainees can often feel ill prepared for. This course aims to help trainees successfully navigate interviews for consultant jobs.
